Conveyor belt [PickMaster 3]

To recognize objects on a belt conveyor, any special colour is designated? or any colour will do? especially green and black..

based on my experience, the belt’s conveyor color is extremely connected to the product’s color, product’s surface (it can reflect or not, it’s always the same), and the light’s type that you have available and you can use in your application. For istance,sometimes the better solution can be a radial light, but if you need to localize item on a belt 800 mm width, you can immagine like a similar solution cannot be applied(or better I’ve never got a good result).

Think that light is an important an chioce like the camera’s type and the robot’s type.Probably is better if you can get a contact with some supplier that can make some tests for you.

Belt colour and lighting are very important.

It’s quite simple really, if you can not see it, you can not pick it!

The clever robot code is taken care off by the Pickmaster team. All the user / integrator has to do is chose the right belt colour, maybe contact your local conveyor supplier for some belt colour samples that you can just place under the camera with product on to find the correct colour. Then you have to sort out the correct type and positioning of the lights. Once you have 100% accurate reconition you then move onto gripper/ vacuum design.

Ideally the gripper vac will hold the product well enough to be able to run at the pickers full speed, think about maybe a pre formed shape in the vac head to hold the product exactly.
