RS 2026.2-3 – Fast Opening Backup folder

Hi,

I have noticed a bug in RobotStudio 2026 when opening a robot backup using the quick backup viewer.

I open the backup using:

RAPID → Files → Backup → Open Backup

The backup is stored in a normal local Windows folder. It is not located on OneDrive, SharePoint, a cloud drive, or a network path, so RobotStudio is accessing it through a direct local Windows path.

After opening the backup, RobotStudio correctly detects the RAPID tasks, for example:

TASK2 (T_ROB1)
TASK3 (T_BG)
TASK4 (T_GRIPPER)

However, I can no longer expand these tasks and see the individual MODX/SYSX files and their tree structure.

In older RobotStudio versions, before RobotStudio 2026.2-3, I could use this method for a very quick inspection of a backup. I could open the backup directly and browse the complete RAPID structure, including the modules inside each task, without having to create a project or create/start a Virtual Controller.

This was very useful when I only needed to quickly check the contents of a customer backup.

The separate Files section is not a practical replacement for this workflow, because it only allows me to open individual files. When checking an entire backup, I need to see the complete module structure organized by RAPID task.

So my question is:Is this an intentional change in RobotStudio 2026, or is it a regression/bug?

The same workflow worked for me in RobotStudio versions prior to 2026.

I have attached a screenshot showing the current behavior.

Thanks.

Hi,

This is a known issue, where .sysx and .modx files are not supported.

It’ll be fixed in an upcoming release of RobotStudio.
