I’ve just upgraded to RobotStudio 2026 and I can’t use the smart component “Virtual SmartGripper 2.03.01” anymore. When adding it to a project with an IRB14050 robot I see a warning icon in the Layout tab stating: “code behind was built for an older version of RobotStudio. The component may not behave as expected”
I gave it a try anyway but it doesn’t even render in the main view nor it can work with the simulation code. I’m really lost because this unofficial smart component was really super useful when interacting with other parts in the simulation. I didn’t have to write any code to open and close the gripper or to link objects when grabbing them. That meant saving lots of time and complexity to get the proper robot behavior in the simulations, the alternative being writing custom code and component logic for the simulation only. So robot programming was much more accessible using it.
I realize it was an unofficial tool downloaded straight from this forum but I also was told to do so by the ABB teacher that followed us just after buying the robot. I got used to it and so were my colleagues.
Is there any way to get it working with RobotStudio 2026? I don’t know it its author reads this forum (@FlorianKnecht or @ABB_YuMiGuide maybe?) but it would be really helpful if he could provide an update to this component!
I must also add that I can’t just downgrade to RobotStudio 2025 or 2024, because the current license system is not working with these older versions and the old licenses are discontinued.
