Wiring issue - Is it necessary to use a diode. [PickMaster 3]

Hi,

Could some body tell me why it’s needed to use one signal diode at each trigger input( on the encoder board) for the camera strobe when more than one robot is in use?

If I take a look in the wirings (3HAC024480-008) it seems that the diode is protecting the camera and the other IO boards output (doManSync). But when the camera gives the strobe all the IO boards output (doManSync) will get the current and the LED from these outputs will be on.

I do not understand the reason of this? If you want to protect the camera strobe output, only one diode on the camera strobe will be enough.

Has somebody any idea why ABB suggest this to do?

Fabrice

Hi,

I think it is an extra precausion to keep signals from bouncing on the input port, thus causing extra strobes.
