Hi, I am looking for help to create an app on PC that will listen for robot IO. When a signal is high, I like to play a recorded voice file on the PC.
I do not know where to start. Examples would be greatly appreciated. I can write ABB rapids ok. I have not created any C# program (beside hello world).

I don’t know if these things will be compatible with current robotstudio, but Microsoft had the Robotic development studio, which worked with robotstudio if you got the ABB connect module installed also. From what I can recall, it could be programmed to do just what you are asking.
Search “SoundPlayer” in the RobotStudio manual.
I was able to do it with c++ socket communication.
Where is the RobotStudio manual? I found the RobotStudio Help but there is not such thing as SoundPlayer

if you want to create a separate app instead of using RobotStudio you have to use the PC-SDK for the development with C#
By the way, your robot controller need the option “616-1 PC Interface”
