We are a manufacture of package machine,Previously we used IRB360 robot with IRC5 control without FlexPendant. Now it need upgrading to Omnicore C30B controler with RobotWare 8. the safety manual said in automode the interlock circuit must reset by TPU thumb button or a safety input.For user at the scene,it’s extremely inconvenient that they need to press the reset button on TPU every time when the machine power on or after open the door with safety swither. Adding a safety module only for resetting purpose would not be particulary wasteful.Is there any way to rwslove this issue？
Down grade to RW7 where this is not a requirement.
But RW7 does not comply with the latest ISO safety standard ISO 10218-1:2025 which is expected to come into force in January 2027, when prior 2011 versions are fully withdrawn and compliance becomes tied to the EU Machinery Regulation
We’ve tried this approach, but it didn’t work because C30TYPEB does not support the RobotWare 7.X version. Our equipment features a separate safety controller that manages the device’s door switches, locks, and reset circuits. The robot is just one component of the equipment, so it’s sufficient to have the equipment’s safety controller monitor it. We have up to 5 ABB robots on our equipment, and having operators press the TPU reset button 5 times after opening the equipment door every time is too cumbersome. Put 5 TPU outside the equipment also looks unappealing.
C30 typeB cannot downgrade. And rightnow, you cannot remove TPU(if you remove TPU, you can not do RESET function even through safe IO/ safebus)
We have ordered a 3018-1 to detach the TPU,but this can only operated on TPU.That means connected the TPU PowerUP then use TPU to disconnect TPU,it’s not useful in realy operation.we write a sample logic when (DriverEnableAllowed and ResetRequied) the reset. when powerup with TPU it can work,but If we power up without TPU the Driver EnableAllowed single cant not been ON. We try the Verify Local Presence singal cant not take effect.
From what I understand, C30 Type B with RW8 still requires the TPU for safety reset. Is there any supported way to reset it through the external safety PLC without the TPU?
no. need to wait software upgrade
