Cant start the flexpendant

“Login to Controller Failed
Please check whether the controller is ready to accept a connection and try to login again.”
Every time I try to start the teach pendent I get this error. I can then go to a different window and select default user but then it just repeats the same error message

Is this on a real controller or virtual controller in RobotStudio?

I am now having this issue on a virtual controller. @cartridge_uk did you figure out what was wrong?

This looks like Omnicore, has the Virtual Flexpendant ever opened correctlyand connected before?

Has the virtual controller fully started without issues (yellow = manual mode or green = auto mode in the bottom right corner controller status)?

Have you enable sideloaded apps?

Windows 11 to Enable Developer Mode
-Open the Start menu and select Settings.
-Go to Privacy & security and open For developers.
-Locate Developer Mode and toggle the switch to On.
-Review the warning about security risks and select Yes to confirm.

Windows 10
-Open the Start menu and select Settings.
-Click Update & Security.
-Select For Developers from the left menu.
-Check the option for Sideload apps.
-Accept the warning about potential risks by selecting Yes.

This is Omnicore. The virtual controller is running without issue and I have opened the Virtual Flexpendant before without any issues. Developer mode was disabled, but I did enable it and the issue remains.

Are you using a version of RobotWare that has worked properly in the past?

Yes, the version of RobotWare has worked before.

Have you upgraded RobotStudio recently?

If not I would suggest building a new virtual controller.

The VC pendant does not run in RS 2025 (version VC was created in) or RS 2026

What robot, controller, and RW options - I will create a VC and see if I get the same issue.

I had a couple custom RW add-ins, but removing those did nothing.

Sorry for the delay.

I have built a VC with the same options and the Flexpendant opens correctly.

I am using RobotStudio 2026.2 not sure if that is a factor?

I have tried in RS 2026.2 with no luck. I am wondering if it is something firewall related?

Had a coworker open the VC pack n go from scratch and the virtual flexpendant worked fine. I did the same (from scratch) and still have the issue.

Possible I guess given the virtual Flexpendant opens as an independent application.

Manual gives the below as the ports that must be open in any firewall when connecting to a real controller (though then you are not connecting to the pendant directly):

  • UDP port 5514 (unicast)

  • TCP port 5515

  • Passive FTP

  • TCP port 443 (RobotWare 7.x)

  • TCP port 80 (RobotWare 6.x)

Does it happen on all your stations now or just this one?
