Rapid Memory Limit

Hello all,

I am working with some very large RAPID modules, and though Load/Unload works OK, I would like to increase the total amount of RAPID memory on the controller. I know that just increasing the RAM size will not accomplish this. Is there another way to allocate RAPID memory? Is the pendant displaying the correct numbers?

Thanks!

I did a little more digging and found a comment in the manuals saying “additional hardware and software changes” are necessary to increase rapid memory size. Does anyone have any further insight?

Hi
I believe you are not using all modules continuously so you can load instruction when particular module is required later when not required unload them.
For eg: Load \Dynamic, “HOME:/******.MOD”;

Sadly this is not an option, we are running fairly advanced weld process code that would require and I-start to Load/unload instructions. I have actually received some feedback from ABB Sweden in regards to this issue. There is currently a “hard coded” limit on memory, but there is a chance this limit could be expanded in future releases of robotware.

Unfortunately you can not change the memory allocation in the current IRC5 platform (SW/HW).
