RobotStudio 2026 – Virtual Controller Fails to Start on Classroom PCs

We are currently trying to roll out RobotStudio 2026 to several computers in our college classrooms, but we are experiencing an issue when attempting to create and start a virtual controller.

Our current setup is as follows:

  • Robot: ABB CRB 15000 GoFa (selected from the ABB Library)
  • RobotWare: OmniCore, version 7.19.2
  • ASI HMI Web App: Version 1.0.10
  • Wizard Easy Programming: Version 1.7.3

All of the above are installed. However, when I try to launch the robot from the layout, I receive the following error message:

“There was a problem when starting the virtual controller.”

Interestingly, I can get everything working correctly on both my work laptop and my test PC. The test PC has the same specifications as the classroom machines, so I don’t believe this is a hardware performance issue.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem or have any suggestions on what might be causing this? Could it be related to the installation, configuration, permissions, or something else specific to the classroom PCs?

Thanks in advance!

Is RobotStudio installed locally on the classroom computers, or is it on a server? Which license are you using?
