How do I change the target name in powerpac ArcWelding to the one I want (with the correct prefix) so that robot studio then counts up the number for the next position.

did you try creating a point and then modifying the name before you create the next point? i usually just create the points and convert them to in-line points before i copy to the robot. I’m not fond of all the point declarations.
The option to modify the name is available when you modify the instruction
