The ability to trace the TCP when running programs from the virtual Flex-pendant or Rapid editor only, seems to be removed in RS6.04… this is a real shame ! is there any way to achieve this… tried to turn on and off, TCP trace with events but no success.
Any thoughts?

The new TCP Trace uses Signal Analyzer functionality and is therefore only available with a simulation.
But if you check “Free run” and uncheck “Automatically start execution..” in Simulation Setup, you can control RAPID execution yourself during simulation.

Hi. Yes I am aware that I can play the program independently using the FP or Rapid editor.
During robot training courses we like to show our students the TCP trace. I will therefore have to keep RS6.03 installed as the Virtual FlexPendant is used during demonstrations.

Is the workaround above not adequate? Why?
I have tested the suggested work-around of using ‘Free-Run’ but this still does not allow the trace to appear when operating the program from the FP.
Because my training stations use Smart components, I deliberately exclude the virtual controller from the simulation.
I did wonder if it may be something to do with the TCP being connected to a Smart component but even tool0 do not work either.

The controller must be included in the simulation for TCP trace to work. But I don’t think a controller in free run with automatic start disabled should interfere with your smart components?
To Trace when using the FP, I have to do do the following in simulation setup,
Check Virtual controller,
Un-checking ‘Automatic start of selected tasks’
Select the tool in the station that I want to trace with,
Start the simulation,
Switch contoller back to manual…and now traces when jogging etc.
Got there in the end
