I am trying to access my omnicore controller remotely with robot studio using IXON’s VPN solution, but I can’t seem to make the connection. Has anyone had success using this service before with an omnicore?
I am using a Rexroth CtrlX with the IXON cloud connector app as my gateway. I can access the PLC, HMI, and other devices on my local machine network, just not the robot. I have the controller’s WAN on my local network, and can access it when I’m directly connected to the machine’s local network.
If anyone has had success accessing the omnicore remotely with other services, I’d be interested to know if they had to configure anything specific on the robot side to make it work.
Hi,
Just wanting to check if you opened the firewall on Omnicore.
Omnicore has a build in Firewall, you need to open manually to allow connection from outside on the public network (aka WAN).
In order to be able to connect to the Public network and perform basic RAPID tasks, the following must be enabled in the firewall:
I have had similar issues using a Secomea gateway.
I even had a ticket at ABB support, and we never got it to work on anything lower then RW 7.20.
They couldn’t tell what had changed from previous RW’s to 7.20.
Also as others are pointing out, check the firewall settings, and make sure the robot allow it.
One last thing we found giving trouble, was if there was any type of network switches between the controller and the gateway. Plugging the cable directly from the controller to the gateway was the only thing working.
