The RobotWare 8 system complies with ISO 10218:2025 standards. Adjustments have been made to user habits and external controls. If your current production line still needs to use RobotWare 7 system robots, you can refer to the following for downgrading.
Note: All systems using C30 Type-B control cabinets (regardless of the unit), or those with IRB 1300 Type-A, CRB1820/1920, IRB 6720 160/3.2 (regardless of cabinet), cannot be downgraded to RW7. Use RobotStudio 2026.2 and simultaneously download RobotWare 7.21.3!!
1. Using RobotStudio 2026.2, backup the existing RW8 system was performed
2. Create the RW7 system installation package
2.1 Open RobotStudio, create a new project, change the system name, select Robotware 7.21.3, and check the Custom option. Here, the robot model is ignored; later on, controller.rsf and the real license will be imported
2.2 In the pop-up dialog box, select Edit, delete virtual licenses, and import the real licenses under the Licenses folder in the backupxxx.rlf
2.3 Click Import as shown below to import controller.rsf from the BACKINFO folder in the backup (A pop-up will prompt, you to delete content that doesn’t match RW7; just agree.)
If robot has Arc /Spot option, there will be error shown. Add Add-in in the Software Tab
2.4 You need to select a default language, then click Finish
2.5 After the virtual system starts, click the modification installation shown below, then click Create Package. Pay attention to the save path of the package.
3. Web page operation
3.1 Open the teach pendant, go to settings, and launch the image shown below (or use the restart dropdown in RobotStudio to enter the boot installation interface).
3.2 Open your computer browser and enter 192.168.125.1:8080 to enter the installation and configuration page, then click Advanced as shown below
3.3 Clear the system
3.4 Click Update Robotware Installation Utilities in the dialog, and in the dialog box, select the RobotWareInstaller folder (version 1.23.2 or above) from the package you created earlier
3.5 Return to the main interface, click Install RobotWare System as shown below, and upload the complete RobotWare 7 installation package you created earlier
Final words
The core of RobotWare 7.21.3 is to update RobotWare Installation Utilities to 1.23.2. So when the factory RW8 system RWI is downgraded to 1.23.2, users can create and install packages lower than RW7.21.3 (for example, some scenarios require fixed use of RW7.18, etc.).
