Product flow simulation? [PickMaster 3]

Hi,

I am currently looking for a production simulation program, to be able to simulate the product flow in a multi conveyor/multi robot system.

Is there anyone with good or bad experiences?

All suggestions are welcome.

Hi Mats,
I have evaluated a software from Rockwell called Arena (with Advanced process module) for doing flow anlysis of multi-robot systems. I have used the software in 3 different projects (5-6 robot lines, single and multiple item types).

Conclusions:

  • Very flexible, basically you can model whatever you want.
  • Different configurations of PickMaster can be tested to find optimal one.
  • Very useful for quantifing and visualizing flow requirements.
  • License cost.
  • Ease-of-use.

Due to license cost and ease-of-use we are looking for a different long term solution than Arena, so I would be happy to discuss this topic further with you.

Hi Mats,

I have seen 2 years ago such kind of simulation from Robomotion, they was develloping such kind of tool but it was not really finished on this moment. I do not know if they will sell it or used it for intern apllication.

Maybe you could ask them.

Mats,

Have you gotten any more suggestions on this topic? My company is currently conducting a search for an appropriate tool. We have experience with Arena and ProModel and neither seems appropriate. Our conclusions about Arena match those previously stated.
