Unable to Connect IRB 4400 Robot to Track

I am trying to set up a cell with an IRB 4400 robot that sits on an IRBT 4004 track in RobotStudio 2025. However, every time I try to link the robot to the track, I get the following error message: “Invalid mechunit for coordinated motion. No mechunit configured for mechanism ‘IRBT4004_STD…’.”

When I tried creating the virtual controller from layout (both the robot and track existed in my station before creating a virtual controller), I would get the error that the configuration is not supported.

Any help and possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi…
I believe a required option might be missing.
Try the following:
1 - Create a backup of your current system as “station1”.
2 - Open a new instance of RS and create a clean station: New >> Station >> Create.
3 - Import the track and the robot: “IRBT4004_STD” + “IRB 4400”.
4 - Drag the “IRB 4400” to attach it to the “IRBT4004_STD” and confirm the prompt.
5 - Create the controller from the layout.
6 - Create a backup of this new station as “station2”.
Now compare the “backinfo” files from stations 1 and 2 to see if there are any differences.
Good work.

This worked! Thank you so much!

What made a difference this time is that I linked the robot to the track THEN created a virtual controller based on the layout; before, I think that I had tried to create the virtual controller right away before linking the robot and track.

One thing to note is that I had to select RobotWare 6.16.03.00 rather than RobotWare 7.21.0 while creating my virtual controller; if I selected RobotWare 7.21.0, I would get the ‘configuration not supported’ message again.
