I am trying to pick a short rubber hose, say 150mm long. The hoses have a natural curve to them, some more than others. I need to pick the hoses and place them with the curve always in the same direction. I am having some trouble with a PatMax model, because of the variation in curvature. I would like to try to use a blob, but the problem that I have is getting the angle. The first principle axis is with the length of the hose. I need the angle to be detected in the direction of the curve. Any thoughts?
One idea would be to use the fine/coarse granularity settings in the PatMax model. For futher information regarding these settings, please refer to the User’s Guide.

You could define two or three vision models with differently curved hoses. PickMaster will automatically use the search hit with the highest score. You probably need to increase the ‘position filter’ to avoid double picks.
Roger- that is the way I am doing it. It seemed to be ok, but I thought that the blob would be much easier and more reliable if I could get the angle.
Hi
I used angle with blobs in the past. For what I remember, it works fine. You have to enable the angle variation in the dialog box. You will get the principal axis direction. Check the manual.
