Jog TCP bug in RobotStudio v2025?

I appreciate that the Jog TCP has been broken out from the move/rotate. However, it seems like it is now impossible to snap the TCP onto geometry. I tried all possible selections and snap options. Am I missing something, or is this a bug in the latest version of RobotStudio? I also reported this via in-software feedback. For context, I do not use this feature much myself, but I teach an introductory course in robotics and one of the first ways I teach students to program a robot is by jogging the robot to a point on a part (using snap tools) to teach instructions (before moving on to more complex graphical methods like creating targets, etc)

Hello there,

The snap TCP functionality was buggy and has been disabled pending future improvement work.
This is also mentioned in the release notes.

Thank you for the reply and I appreciate the hard work that has gone in to constantly improving RobotStudio. However, I did not find this mentioned in the release notes for 2025.1.1.

It is still there , in 2025.2 version too. And it is annoying

The release notes for RS 2025.1 mention the following:

Incorrect snapping for linear and planar jogging
When using linear or planar jogging with snapping enabled in the graphics window the TCP snapped to edges or corners according to the selected snap mode. This modified the TCP position along other axes than only the selected one, which was not an expected behavior. The TCP snapping has been disabled for linear and planar jogging.

I will check what the plan is for this functionality and get back to you.

Just a small follow-up on this discussion. The TCP snap functionality is planned to be re-introduced in Q4 of 2025, most likely RS 2025.4.

It does not seem to work (yet) in 2025.4. It is a useful method for teaching novices the very basics, so I hope this functionality will be reintroduced soon. Thanks!

Hi Jeritt,

Unfortunately, this feature didn’t make it in for 25.4.

I am trying to get it in for 26.1, but I can’t make any promises.

Thank you for the status update

Any news on that issue? I also teach an intruductory robotic course and removing this feature breaks my usual workflow. I skimmed the 26.1 Release Notes but snap is not mentioned there.

Is there at least a workaround to move the TCP on the center of a surface/part?

Looks like there’s going to be a fix this issue in version 2026.3, after summer.

One of the approaches I have taken is to jog the TCP to “by eye” precision (near the intended location), then use teach instruction. Then, I show students how to use a few of RobotStudio’s “CAD tools” to reposition a target… Maybe not ideal for a complete beginner (and an extra step from using create targets – which we learn later in the course, as it is more prone to robot configuration problems), but it has been ok as a workaround for me. Will appreciate it when I can snap a TCP again, though! Take care and best of luck!

I just rolled back to RobotStudio2024 in my classes and I’ll wait for the upcoming fix in 2026.3.
