I have a customer that wants some changes made to a pallet pattern. Can I have them email me the back up, I make changes to the PickMaster file, and email it back and have them do a restore?
This would be easier then traveling to the customer site to make the change, and transfer the PM file.
yes you can. But it is not enough to update the PickMaster 5 project and line.
You also need to download the project in order to generate the operations for the robot. I would create a station from the customer backup in Robot Studio. I would then connect to the virtual robot with PickMaster and download the project to it. I would then copy the PickMaster project folder, e.g. C:DataMyRwSystemHOMEPickMasterRC-ModeMyPM5Project and atttach it to the customer backup (or just generate a new backup from the virtual robot).
Anders-
I have done the items you suggested and created a backup using the virtual controller. When we restored the backup to the actual robot, it looked like the PickMaster transferred (PM Description Updated), however the pallet pattern that I changed did not change when the robot ran. Could I have missed a step?
Hi John,
when you update the pallet pattern you also need to update the position sources. This should be indicated by warning triangles on the position sources.
One advise is to test run the pallet on the virtual controller to make sure the updates are working as expected. This will require some temporary modifications in the line:
You need to set simulated target generation for all slave work areas.
If you have DI or GI tool events you need to find a way to trigger these events in the simulation.
If you are using RobotWare 5.13.02 or later, you are able to select and start the corresponding palletising job directly from the Start Job button from the operators interface. If you are using an earlier version you need to trigger the target generation manually using I/O to start the job: Set product selection (GI) on the master work area to select job, pulse the trigger (DI) to start the job.
