Hello everyone,
I would like to share some important information regarding the new licensing system in this topic.
The instruction going out in the order confirmation emails “Please enter this code within the application to activate your license” is only valid for Node Locked licenses.
If you ordered an Enterprise license, a.k.a. user based license, the code in the email should not be used. Instead, please create a Robotics One account and Log in with it in RobotStudio. After doing so, you should see the license tied to your company in the menu that shows up, under Available Licenses.
Hit Select and Restart, and you’re good to go.
If you do not see a license there, or an error pops up. Please reach out to your Local ABB for assistance.
The order confirmation email also incorrectly refers to the 5x5 code as “activation code”. The correct name for it is “ticket”. So whenever you see a ticket being mentioned in the RobotStudio 2026.1 manual, it refers to this code.
We are working on correcting the information in the email and apologize for any confusion it may has caused.
There is a licensing portal available via https://softwarelicenses.robotics.abb.com/
If you have purchased a RobotStudio license and created a Robotics One (R1) account, you should be able to sign in to this site using your R1 credentials.
Here, you should be able to see information about your license and if you have a multi-user license you can manage the users who are allowed to use this license.
Expand the Users section and you should see the following view:
Invite/Remove members via the buttons in the orange box.
Update 2026-05-11: It is now possible to request for a 2025.5 network license migration via your local ABB contact.
There is currently a known issue with valid RobotStudio 2025.5 (and below) activation keys not being accepted by RobotStudio 2026.1.
The affected users are those with network licenses such as multi-user licenses and partner licenses.
Standalone licenses have been migrated and should be accepted by RS2026.1.
Work is ongoing to migrate all remaining licenses to the new licensing system.
Educational licenses are planned to be supported from RobotStudio version 2026.2.
This means that schools and universities should keep using RobotStudio 2025.5
Ordering educational licenses is done via Local ABB as usual.
Some users have reported issues with accessing their licenses in RobotStudio 2026.1
In the output window, this exception would be visible:
![]()
One thing that could cause this issue is incompatible (with your network) proxy settings in RobotStudio.
Open RobotStudio 2026 Support Tool via Start Menu, go to the right-most tab called License, and change the Proxy settings:
It’s set to System Proxy by default, but for some users the No Proxy setting is required.
Please don’t forget to click the Update Proxy Settings button.
Restart RobotStudio and try accessing your license again.
If changing the proxy settings does not resolve the issue, then it could be that you have a network security policy in place that is preventing communication to/from https://eu-backend.wibu.cloud/100434
Please reach out to your IT department and ask for a white-listing of this URL.
Please note that your license has to have the status activated in the license portal for it to be accessible in RobotStudio.
If you sign in to the license portal and see that your license has the status available, please reach out to your local ABB and ask for it to be activated.
When a license is activated and ready to use, it will look something like this:
As of 2026-05-05, many users are experiencing problems with activating trial licenses.
R&D is looking into a resolution for this issue.
Unfortunately no prognosis is available at this time.
It is now possible to request for a 2025.5 network license migration via your local ABB contact.
