Known Issues: PM3.12/4.0.123/5.08.02 [PickMaster 3]

Dear PickMaster user,

We strive to keep a high quality but errors do unfoturnately occur.

Known issues are listed in the release notes for each product (PickMaster and RobotWare 4.0.1xx and 5.0x). However, in addition to that, the list below contains known errors/issues in the most recent versions.

PickMaster 3.12

No known issues (except for what is in the release notes).

RobotWare >= 5.07.02

In RobotWare versions >=5.07.02 there is a network related issue present. The problem is related to the base functionality of the robot controller and does not only affect PickMaster. A resolution to this problem is currently not available.

Error messages occuring some time (up to days) after production start referring to “uplink failed” is likely to be caused by this issue. Two different actions are recommended to fix this issue, start with number 1.

  1. Upgrade to PickMaster 3.12 (this version is more robuts against this problem compared to PickMaster 3.11)

  2. Downgrade the Robot Controller to 5.07.01.02.

Regarding the network issue in RobotWare >= 5.07.02

This problem is now identified, solved and verified. The solution will be implemented in RobotWare 5.09.00. Please contact your local ABB support for an estimate of when this RobotWare will be released.

I’m quite surprised. In the PM 3.12 release notes, it is mentionned that this release is compatible with RW 5.08.01 or later.

On an installation, where we had the 'uplink failed" problem, we upgraded to PM 3.12 and the controller to RW 5.08.02 as it is mentionned in the PM release notes.

The “uplink failed” problem is fixed but now the installation must be rebooted 3/4 times a day because of an error on the Profibus board (error 71318 - Fieldbus command to unit was not successfully sent).

So, what to do exactly ? Do we have to let the controller in RW 5.07.01.02

PickMaster has been verified with certain versions of RobotWare, these are the versions that we inform of.

If there are any other issues between RobotWare and other robot controller devices that not directly refers to PickMaster it is not a topic for this forum. Please contact your local ABB support for further assitance to troubleshoot your Profibus issue.

I’ve also the same problem as Phil. I’d a system with a 5.08.2008.02 release. I’d not so big problem but I decided to follow your indications ( release 5.07 or 5.09), unfortunately I’ve some robot (7 !) with a key string that not accept 5.07 and with the 5.09 I’ve problem on the profibus board.

I’ll ask to my ABB contact new key but I think that the problem with the Profibus board must be solved.

You are correct, 5.07 or 5.09 can be used. 5.08 should be avoided.

Any profibus/devicenet problem relates to RobotWare as such and not PickMaster, this is also the reason why it should be handeled through the ordinary support channels, i.e. your local ABB support.
