Unfortunately the system automatically cannot install Cognex driver. Also manually I’ve no informations about the result.
I’m using this release BUILD2_30_0032 .
For the driver, can be a problem with the Ethernet board present in the main board (like the problem with the 8x00 frame grabber )?
Regards, Davide.
Hello Davide,
Are you upgrading to PickMaster 2.30 from any earlier versions of PickMaster? If yes, it is important to manually remove a few different frame grabber drivers. This is detailed in the release notes.
Also, if you experience problems with installing the frame grabber drivers during PickMaster installation, please try to not install the drivers manually, instead use the setup program in the PickMaster/Frame grabber drivers folder.
For future questions, please feel free to post any questions on the forum instead of emailing them directly. We monitor the forum the same way as email.
Kind Regards,
Erik

Hej Erik,
I’m writing you regarding a problem that I got in a PickMaster installation.
I’m using a Cognex 8100D, with 1 digital Camera, high resolution (CDC200).
I have some problems:
When I installed the pickMaster I got an error during the automatic installation of Cognex Driver ( I choose Cognex 8100D): I installed manually that driver from the folder in the PickMaster CD: can be a problem ?
When I try to view the image from the camera I got the image BUT are present vertical “stripes”: let me say it’s like you have a not righ sample time or something like that . These stripes are not black&white but are different gray’s level overlapped to the image. I think that I’ll send you a picture about it. What can be ?
The Pc where I installed PickMaster 2.30 is equipped with Windows 2K, Sp4. I’ve no hardware conflict.
What video format have you selected and what kind of camera do you have? A CDC50 or a CDC200? Please note that you might have received a CDC200 even though you have ordered a CDC50 as Cognex can not deliver CDC50 anymore.
Could you, in the PickMaster line file, please choose to edit the camera and retrieve a screen dump and post it here. Please also open up the windows device manager and attach a screen dump from that one as well.
About the camera: it’s a CDC 200 like the order was done.
About the video format: I’ve 6 choices:
2 for a CDC 100 (always black)
2 for a CDC 50 (always black)
2 for a CDC 200 ( always the same image ). Due on problem with character dimension I cannot read difference between two descriptions: I understood one like Strobe and on like Continues. But I’ve no differences.
In the Device Manager I’ve no hardware conflict, I remember that the Cognex Board is installed in the IRQ 9 like the Ethernet board.
Can you gently make the opposite: Screen dump what you have, so I can see which settings are used.
Remember the problem with the Cognex driver installation. The system is a Windows 2K, Sp4, in Italian, and the message when the Installation manager try to install the driver, seem like it cannot open an installation package.
I ocnvinced the customer to test a CDC 50 instead of a CDC 200, and with the same framegrabber, same cable, same PC and software, the customer said that the image is perfect.
Now we’ll evaluating to change the camera due a fault on it.
I’ll inform you about other issues on this problem.
I come back with more informations about my problem.
The CDC 200 that I got initially it’s not perfectly working. Now I swapped with a newone and the camera it’s ok.
About the complete line I got some problems:
Here what I’ve:
Windows 2K, SP4, PickMaster 2.30 build BUILD2_30_0032, Frame grabber 8100 D, camera Cognex CDC200.
I did every calibration is necessary ( with checkboard camera calibration) and it was impossible to work, because for everytime I got from the pickmaster always different positions ( for me randomly).
The only thing that I did was to calibrate with the previous calibration paper; and the system is perfectly running.
Can be a combination of several factors in my system ? or can be present some problem when we use CheckBoad camera calibration with 8100D and CDC200 ?
I don’t where is the problem; one possible solution can be the Operating system ( upgraded to latest SP), with Frame grabber driver?
I understand your problem as that you have problems using a certain checkerboard calibration paper. What mean error did you get when defining the base frame?
Please verify the following:
Measure the grid size on the calibration paper (printers/plotters may scale the original document when printing)
Make sure that if entering a customized size of the grid pitch when calibrating the camera that you are using “.” instead of “,” when entering decimal values.
I did several times the base frame calibration and I got always a mean error between 0.08mm upto 0.21 mm. In that case can be enounght.
I measuared the gride size; I remember in my case 19 mm;but I don’t remember If I defined “19,0” or “19.0”. I think “19.0”; But I’ll verify as soon as possible.
